Coalition Partners

Being part of coalitions expands our ability to advocate and serve our communities. We join with others who share in our mission and vision so that we can create more opportunities for immigrants and refugees to be heard in policy advocacy, community organizing, civic engagement, and legal services.

Coalition Campaign Wins

Our Coaltion work has grown significantly over the past few years. We are proud to be a part of the successful campaign under REP4All to sustain and expand funding for immigrant legal services. This effort continues as we remain active in this coalition through ongoing budget advocacy. In addition, through CIPC, we have fought for and won policies such as Healthcare for All, and expanding Medi-Cal to undocumented residents. We continue to fight for policies such as Safety Net 4 All and others that provide more resources to the immigrant community and create opportunities for our families to thrive. Through FIRM, we are fighting the xenophobic and inhumane policies that have and are expected to come from the federal government.

Core Purposes

Power Building and Collective Advocacy

Coalition partnerships allow SIREN to amplify its advocacy in policy campaigns and coordinate actions. Coalitions enable synchronized messaging, campaigns, and direct actions. Pushing bold demands on united fronts can pressure decision-makers more effectively than one group alone

Community Reach and Engagement

Coalition Partners help SIREN engage a wider base of immigrants, refugees, and allies across regions and communities and help us tap into trusted networks where Coalitions build credibility with communities that may not yet know SIREN. Additionally, Coalition partnerships allow SIREN to better meet community needs by sharing resources and filling the gap in areas where we have extended experience and expertise.

Shared Knowledge and Capacity

Coalition work allows SIREN to share and gain expertise, especially in areas like deportation defense, legal frameworks, communications, or voter engagement. Through our coalition work, we have been able to help each other build internal capacity in areas like data analysis, and grant writing.

Policy Alignment and Strategic Direction

SIREN can align on legislative priorities at the local, state, and federal levels and develop joint strategies to help shape its advocacy tactics and goals within a broader ecosystem of immigrant justice.

Increased Visibility and Legitimacy

Being a part of a strong coalition increases SIREN’s influence and recognition and strengthens its legitimacy. Additionally, coalition endorsements and affiliations add weight to SIREN’s policy positions and advocacy campaigns.

Funding and Strategic Opportunities

Coalition work has opened and can open doors to joint funding opportunities or foundation support that prioritizes collective impact.

Sustainability

Working with partners creates shared responsibility and reduces duplication of efforts specially in bold legislative campaigns
