In honor of Women's History month SIREN is excited to honor a fierce immigrant rights advocate whose continuous activism have made it possible for California to make major strides in the immigrant rights movement and set an example for what is possible across the nation. After over a decade of working alongside immigrant community leaders, advocates, and partners, Reshma Shamasunder stepped down from her position as Executive Director of the California Immigrant Policy Center at the end of 2015.

SIREN Spotlight:  Maria Cruz Cruises Safely Thanks to Her AB 60 Driver License

Maria Cruz walked into her first SIREN leadership development meeting last spring, unacquainted with other members in her community and not up-to-date on policy issues affecting immigrants like herself and her family. However, on January 6 of this year, Maria walked confidently into the San Jose DMV office ready to apply and test for a California driver license.
