Una Líder Joven e Inspirante de SIREN, Amairani

SIREN siempre ha creído que nuestros mejores años están por venir con la siguiente generación de líderes juveniles con valores progresivos y una pasión y dedicación implacable. Esta es la razón por la cual el Programa de Liderazgo Juvenil de SIREN, diseñado para jóvenes inmigrantes (de 14 a 25 años de edad), se enfoca en proporcionar liderazgo valioso, organización comunitaria, habilidades de defensa de políticas, y aprender sobre temas que afectan a las comunidades inmigrantes.

Nos gustaría compartir la historia de Amairani que ha estado participando en nuestro programa desde el 2016. Ella se involucró con SIREN porque su familia es directamente afectada por la actual ola de políticas anti-inmigrantes. "Creo firmemente que necesito estar en la vanguardia y luchar por aquellos que no pueden luchar por sí mismos", dijo Amairani.

Como receptora de DACA, está orgullosa de poder luchar por los derechos de los demás. Para los jóvenes que buscan formas de involucrarse, Amairani recomienda el Programa de Liderazgo Juvenil de SIREN debido a la amistad y el apoyo que siente al estar cerca de participantes con ideas en común. “Juntos podemos encontrar formas creativas e innovadoras de ayudar a nuestra comunidad. El programa también nos proporciona una oportunidad para canalizar nuestra energía y preocupaciones de una manera positiva ".

¡Bievenida al Equipo, Ambar Gonzalez!

Ambar González nació y creció en el condado de Santa Clara. Al crecer, descubrió una pasión por la política e interés en encontrar una oportunidad relacionada con el activismo político. Asistió a la Universidad Fisk en Tennessee, donde recibió un título en psicología y ciencias políticas.

Después de graduarse, Ambar regresó a San José y participo como voluntaria con muchas organizaciones, pero no fue hasta que asistió a una protesta en San Diego para defender a los niños detenidos en los campos de detención que encontró su vocación. La protesta la ayudó a darse cuenta de que su interés era defender los derechos de los inmigrantes y luchar para abolir a ICE.

Poco después, Ambar comenzó a asistir a las reuniones del Programa de Liderazgo Juvenil de SIREN. Su pasión y amor por nuestras creencias fue lo que despertó el interés de aplicar. "Estoy encantada de trabajar con SIREN y quiero ayudar a otros a involucrarse e informarse, no solo sobre la inmigración sino también sobre sus derechos civiles," dijo.

An Inspiring SIREN Youth Leader, Amairani

SIREN has always believed that our best years are ahead with the next generation of youth leaders with progressive values and relentless passion and dedication. This is why SIREN’s Youth Leadership Program, designed for immigrant youth (14-25 years old), is focused on providing valuable leadership, community organizing, and policy advocacy skills, and learning about issues affecting immigrant communities.

We would like to share the story of Amairani who has been participating in our program since 2016. She became involved with SIREN because her family is directly impacted by the current wave of anti-immigrant policies. “I strongly believe that I need to be in the forefront and fight for those who cannot fight for themselves,” Amairani said.

As a DACA recipient, she is proud to be able to fight for the rights of others. For youth who are looking for ways to get involved she strongly recommends SIREN’s Youth Leadership Program because of the friendship and support she feels from being around like-minded participants. “Together we are able to come up with creative, innovative ways to help our community. The program also provides us an outlet to channel our energy and concerns in a positive way.”

Welcome to the Team, Ambar Gonzalez!

Ambar Gonzalez was born and raised in Santa Clara County. Growing up she discovered a passion for politics, and found herself interested in finding an opportunity related to political activism.  She attended Fisk University in Tennessee where she received a degree in psychology and political science.

After graduating, Ambar moved back to San José and volunteered with many organizations, but it wasn’t until she attended a protest in San Diego to defend children held in detention camps that she found her calling. The protest helped her realize her interest was to champion immigrant rights, and fight to abolish ICE.

Shortly after, Ambar began attending SIREN’s Youth Leadership Program meetings. Her passion and love for our beliefs was what sparked an interest to apply. “ I am ecstatic to be working with SIREN and want to help others be involved and informed, not only about immigration but about their civil rights as well,” she said.
